The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), in partnership with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the U.S. Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, will host an Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure National Conference for state leaders on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment. The conference will be held at the Marriott Crystal Gateway (located at 1700 Richmond Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22202) on Thursday, July 13 and Friday, July 14, in Arlington Virginia.

The purpose of this meeting is to equip states with the tools they need to build out a national EV charging network that is convenient, reliable, affordable, accessible, and equitable. The meeting will convene officials from state and federal agencies, as well as representatives from utilities and private-sector partners to share EV infrastructure planning and deployment models, hear the latest guidance and insights from the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal partners, engage in discussions with federal officials as well as key private-sector partners such as EV Service Providers, utilities, and equipment manufacturers, and identify EV infrastructure planning and implementation needs under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

Thursday, July 13, 2023: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET

  • Guidance and insights from the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal partners on EV planning and NEVI program implementation
  • Discussions with private-sector partners such as EV Service Providers, equipment manufacturers, and OEMs to discuss the EV and EVSE market, and challenges and opportunities under NEVI
  • Dialogues with utilities on electric system considerations for EV infrastructure planning
  • Case studies highlighting successful state-utility engagement in EV infrastructure planning and grid integration.
  • Breakout sessions on emerging issues in the EV space including workforce development challenges and opportunities; best practices in streamlining permitting and approval processes for EV charging infrastructure
  • Office Hours with Joint Office of Energy and Transportation

Friday, July 14, 2023: 8:30am – 4:00 p.m. ET

  • Lessons learned and best practice exchange between states on EV infrastructure program planning and implementation.
  • Case studies featuring the various approaches states are incorporating equity and Justice 40 goals in their NEVI planning
  • Insights on roles and responsibilities, and coordination best practices between Public Utility Commissions, State Energy Offices, State Departments of Transportation, and State Environment Agencies
  • Regional discussions on NEVI program planning and implementation with State Energy Offices, State Departments of Transportation, and other implementation partners

Registration Information
This meeting is open to state, federal, local, and private-sector partners. State Energy Office and State Department of Transportation staff responsible for their state’s NEVI program funding and other EV initiatives are encouraged to attend and will receive one complimentary registration per agency. Registration fees for additional state, federal, and private-sector partners will be announced soon. Space will be limited.
