On June 28, 2023, Wyoming and Colorado signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on direct air capture (DAC) activity and development. The bipartisan agreement looks at how DAC can complement existing and emerging technologies, increase jobs and economic development, and reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide. Some of the activities the states will explore together include applying for grants, identifying necessary infrastructure, defining carbon removal measurement standards, analyzing atmospheric carbon dioxide removal markets, identifying a process for resolving issues with cross-border CO2 sequestration, developing a commercialization pipeline for nascent technologies, and ensuring a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process. For more information, see the complete MOU here.
